Followers is an artistic curatorial project created out of a desire for having a reaction to the social network visuals outputs. The project aims to create a new format of cataloging and archiving photographs, that only share their location in the virtual social network. “Followers” established as a social art project, partnering with the Bat-Yam Art Institute Gallery, includes a team of young girls who function as the curators of the project.
The process included a massive search of photographs mostly made by young female photographers, through the different platforms suggested by social network. Weekly meetings that took place in the ‘Followers’ studio, were a platform for the group’s discussions about art practice, the meaning of the photographic image, as well as its validity in the virtual world and of course thoughts of the process of curating, both personal and collective and decision-making regards the composition and production of an exhibition.
“Followers” will be a series of exhibitions that will take place in different places around the world.
The first exhibition “An Invitation for An Action” is a glimpse into the creative process and practice of the photographers and the curators as well as the correspondence between them.
“Followers” invites everybody to suggest any theme, motif or a space for a show that will enable interesting connections and associations between the photography media and its appearance in the virtual space of the social network and other formats of presentation.

Background information: “Passages”
Shai Fredo
Beyond, sounds like the horizon, or over, the word is a conflict of time, if the horizon is the future then the past is left behind, and we are going through. Go where? Go where? Transition can be any space which allows us to pass, rather than physical terms. Every movement, step or even dreaming, is beyond. I moved in or moved from town to town until I had a moment, while inside or outside of me. Every person is presumed through time, each point of time is the next point window.
How to tie the concept of “transitions” to the festival, the world of girls, whether we will investigate, ask? Or we turn to memory, close our eyes or look at pictures and go to another place, time, experience or any feeling that you upload to us as artists. Will be fascinating to see what each of you present conceals a context.
Lilac Porat
Transitions are part of the lives, sometimes crossings are dramatic: light and shadow, morning and night, idle activity. Some passages Somalis by ritual called “rites of passage”: Bar \ Bat Mitzvah, graduations, but these rituals not necessarily adapted to the fetus’s emotional.
Most dramatic passages in our lives and are not an instant, we get the very passage in retrospect.
Transition between the woman or the girl child is the one man most significant transitions in life besides being a physical transition is gaining a lot of emotion chargers. I mean, usually these decisions are crucial in our lives our fate, and in retrospect we can put your finger and say - That decision led me to become a small child and an adult dependent, independent and responsible.
Some people see transitions in two colors: black and white - through observation makes it difficult to see the beauty that aisle, aisles are constructed of many hues, this point of view allows us to get the move as an integral part of our lives and accept it gladly.
This exhibition combines over twenty artists and producers who were given the option to display what is “beyond” through the eyes.
Although this exhibition as part of an integral and important venture, “Girl” in 2012, he was not talking specifically about the female sex. These artists talk about things Aonibrsalim, and give their interpretation of passages.
